چکیده

glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase and glutamic pyruvic transaminase activities were measured in experimental thyroid rats. A significant decrease of adrenaline content was found in hyperthyroid group. This finding appears to signify in the explanation of increased responsiveness of the cardiovascular system to adrenaline in hyperthyroidism. Cholinesterase activity was increased in hyperthyroid group and decreased in hypothyroid group. This might be related to complicated functions of the autonomic nervous system. Activities of glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase and glutamic pyruvic transaminase were decreased in hyperthyroid as well as hypothyroid group. It is likely that muscular involvements in thyroid diseases are significant enough to cause these changes.

Paraoxonase role in dyslipidemia in thyroid disease (review article)

Introduction: Thyroid disease e.g. hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and subclinical hypothyroidism are among the most common endocrine disorders. Dyslipidemia is prevalent in thyroid diseases and lipid oxidation due to oxidative stress play an important role in the pathogenesis of thyroid diseases. Antioxidant enzymes such as paraxonase have a protective role in these patients and their activit...

Mechanism of Action of the Thyroid Hormone on the Heart

SUMMARY  The foliowing cardiac effects may be attributed to thyroxin:  1-Thyroxin augments all anaerobic processes in the body includ::ng the heart, and decreases the glycogen content of the heart ( 1, 2, 5, 27). The resistance of the heart to anoxia is increased in hyperthyroidism ( 25). 2- Thyroxin influences the cardiac weight and prevents cardiac atrophy (3, 8, 10, 11, 19, 20, 21, 30...

Thyroid hormone and adrenergic signaling in the heart.

Thyroid hormone action has profound consequences for the heart, ranging from atrial fibrillation to hemodynamic collapse. It has long been known that the cardiovascular signs and symptoms seen in thyrotoxicosis resemble those seen in states of catecholamine excess. However, measured concentrations of serum catecholamines in patients with thyrotoxicosis are typically normal or even low, suggesti...
